Stars Shine on Shanghai

Celebrities from around the globe, as well as ordinary citizens, showed their hospitality to the athletes, coaches and families. Athletes were invited into Shanghai families' homes to experience the city' culture and traditions. Quincy Jones composed and sang the theme song for the opening ceremony; Premier Hu Jintao and Mayor Hang Zheng greeted the participants. Kenny G played at the closing ceremonies. Mrs Desmond Tutu, and other African dignitaries were in attendance. The Chairman of the Olympics, Dr Timothy Shriver, addressed the conference of the Heads of Delegations.
